Painting log of new eldar.
The past day after I had my "after christmas battle" as I've now decided to call it, I've been working on my models. I am very pleased with a few things:
1) I highlighted my Dire Avenger Exarch. He looks a little better now. Now I must highlight the squad.
2) My Dark Reaper Exarch has been stripped, re-primed, and now painted again. He looks MUCH better, though his base coat seems too be too dull, compared to his disciples. I've got one reaper done, onto the next 3.
3) For my birthday this year, I got the ForgeWorld Avatar. He is now a full-grown Eldar HQ, a combat monster in his own right. And just now, I finally took the time to paint and assemble him, complete with adding some greenstuff to his feet to make a "magma" effect. One thing about him, his middle, ring, and pinky fingers broke off on his right hand. Solution: take his index finger, cut it off, and reposition it. Now, I have a pissed off Avatar.
: D
I wish I could post some pictures, but my camera is out of battery and the damn charger is no where to be found. :*(

Sweet...
So my first after christmas battle was today. It was my new eldar list versus my normal opponent Sean, but he had brought his Marines with him. It wasn't a pretty battle...
I victoriously slaughtered him, and forced him to concede the end of my turn 5.
I felt kinda bad...but then I remembered all the times that he had laid the same smack-down on me. : D
In other news of my life (that sounds concieted...but I really try to not brag or have a large ego), some of you manga fans may have heard of a game know as Jump! Superstars.
I've played and almost beaten that game. Indeed, it is VERY fun, whether it is making your deck of characters, unlocking new stuff, or what not, it is fun.
However, for christmas I got THIS!!!
Basically, it is the sequal to Superstars, but ten times better. It features an expanded character system [Superstars had about 100 characters in 15 manga, Ultimate Stars has about 300 in 25 manga...], has a revised version on how to unlock new characters, and is overall a better game.
I've recently been playing with Japanese kids thanks to Nintendo Wi-fi Connection and it feels good to see how far I've gotten compared to them. : D

FINALly, Christmas
So I've not posted in a long time. :*( :*( :*(
The good news is that a lot of things has happened.
1) Finals are almost over!!!!! I've studied and feel confident on them, so I'm hoping that they'll bring up my grade.
2) I will have time to paint over the holidays and be able to goto Game Nights again. Woo-hoo!
Oh, and 3) I've seen the future. I'm getting a Wii for Christmas! Plus, I might get some Striking Scorpions to boot!
HOO-RAH!

Autarch: Path of Command
So I have off of school due to Thanksgiving. Tuesday night I had a mega-battle, 2k points carnage. Was ok, took some time though. I did however get spray paint and new citadel colours.
I spent most of the day painting my new limited edition autarch. I've also taken the liberty to convert him to have a laser lance, mandiblasters, jetbike, and reaper launcher.
Pictures
Hope you like, it took me about 3 hours to do him.

Harlequins, as this Blog's name implies.
Cha-ho-kay. I have pictures. The first 5 are of the Harlequins models. That I want. Badly.
The next one is of the Harlequin Death Jester. Which I also want. Badly.
The third one is of the new ShadowSeer. Yes, the new model of the Shadowseer.
This will be one squad for me, maybe minus a trouper. All will have kisses and it's gunna be a countercharge unit for my firebase. My opponents can't see me if i'm further than 24" away and that's the sight limit for my Death Jester. Fun stuff. Enjoy pictures.

Shadow Seer Picture...Because I couldn't put it in the form like the ones above...

So long Dusjo-Katon. It's been good...
So with the new Eldar codex out, the craftworld variants and older stats/point costs have been changed and whatnot. Most of it is for the better. But the codex is not tournament official until 30 days after its' release. Today was a Dlair tournament.
This marks the last time I can play my Iyanden army with wraithguard and wraithlords as troops and have heavy support still open.
I did however go out with a bang.
A bang of exploding wraithbone. My first two games were both victorious slaughters, for them that is. My third game [very, VERY fun game though] I was defeated crushingly.
I did pick up a squad of Shining Spears and a squad of the new WarWalkers with my birthday moolah.
Wednesday I have off. Tuesday = First game with new codex.
Stay tuned, I might actually start winning!

Eldar = Love
I got the Megaforce. I've already started working on stuff and just now finished my new Wraithlord. He is based off of a striking scorpion exarch, using a sword, shuriken cannon (scorpion claw when he was an exarch), and shoulder mounted flamers (look like the mandiblasters of the scorpions).
Dire Avenger Exarch is finished. I decided to go with the duel Avenger Catapults (4 shots a turn, 5 with bladestorm). I'm currently working on the squad, but here is the Exarch alone.
Pictures.

Dire Avenger Squad
Yes, the Exarch has been slightly repainted. You can't tell from the photo, but the helmets are Ultramarine blue [a rich blue] while the armour is Shadow gray [blue with a hint of gray].

Enjoy. More to come.

Grr...
Grr...
I've not been able to goto a game night for some time now (thank you school and band for becoming my LIFE). I've painted my army and have also been sick. So I'm stuck playing Dawn of War: Winter Assault. I could be playing Dark Crusade (new expansion) but some [censored] got the last copy of the game 5 minutes before I did....fun eh? Well, with new Eldar codex, Avatar and Harlequins [in January : O] being released soon, I'll have stuff to look forward to! Now...to focus on school and band...as if I already am not...

Necrons...phase out for good?
Well, it happens to most everyone that plays TT. We start with one army. Strip it down and repaint it. Start another. Eventually, we'll get the urge to sell the other army. Which is what I'm planning on doing. My friend wishes to start getting into TT seriously and I am focused on my Eldar more than anything right now [I just ordered the new FW avatar]. So I've offered to sell my army for a reasonable price. Phase out forever....:*(. BUT! I'll have moolah to revamp my Eldar with new models, varnish, and some other goodies.... As to what those goodies are, merely wait and see. Plus, I've got someone else to play 40k with that I see daily.
Freakin' Sweet!
Note: This deal is not finalized and will not be for some time...

Dlair/ThorH tournament
Well, the list I posted below actually had a vyper (shuriken cannon/star cannon) and farseer didn't have a ghosthelm. I was lazy and didn't repaint/reassemble my avatar. Honestly, it straight up sucked. Our team (only 3 people, the son of one of the Thor's guys had to join us last minute) played for fun, using balanced lists. Thor's played to win. Their armies were maxed infantry (240 guard [150 conscripts, independent commissars], 84 marines, 84 marines) and a Min/Max 10 assault cannon marine army. Was not very fun at all. It was impossible to best the sheer number, despite the amazing firepower I could pump out. The only person I actually made a dent in was the Min/Max army by killing 2 preds, 6 speeders, one dread, and a few rhinos.
I really dislike thors. I refuse to return to their store unless some unforseen situation arises.
On the flipside, Brian [our event manager] has introduced me into Warmachine. I am intrigued...we'll see where that goes!

Right, my list I shall be taking is a modified version of Dusjo-Katon, such as adding the Avatar for a firebase babysitter (anyone wanna charge a MC that is amazing in H2H??? I think not!) dropping the hawks for Warp Spiders [very wise decision] and dropping the fire prism.

Tournament
I recently attended a tournament this past saturday (8/19/06) and it was great.
The rules for this was a modified version of Rules of Engagement. To win, you have two objectives, be it capture your two objective markers, your opponents objective markers or something else like that. Each player has their own objectives and it's a very different game this way. Was amazing, I ended up taking 3rd place and the second best prize of $40. I too 3rd because my painting score wasn't as high as the person who took 2nd. So I "got" 3rd place but was 2nd....
Oh well. It was still very fun.

3rd Game. Can one really defeat one's own army?
Ok. To start with, I brought my friend Cj to this tournament. He plays Space Marines, but couldn't get a 2k point force. Thusly, I lent him my 2k points of Necrons, the Salty Doggs.
We ended up facing each other in the third game.
He was starting to get used to all the necron rules.
Objectives: Cj- Get my objective markers
Me - Get my objective markers.
Turn 1: Cj
Deepstriking the Monolith, as I advised him to do (kinda forgetting that it might come in late on turn 5 as it did for me) and a squad of warriors, Cj had a solid line of warriors and destroyers near my two objectives. He couldn't shoot anything, thanks to the terrain and range of the gauss weapons. His wraiths moved 24" and were in line of sight for my dark reapers, wave serpent, and a wraithlord. My scorpions and falcon were hiding nearby.
Me
Falcon and scorpions advanced to take a flank. Wraithlord took a shot at the wraiths, one laid down. Dark reapers killed another. Necron lord with res. orb prevented them from insta-gak. Wave Serpent unloaded Wraithguard, who wounded the wraiths. Who saved the AP 1 shots with their amazing 3+ invurnable saves....I wasn't worried about the squad of warriors behind them though....Fire Prism shot at a destroyer, but missed. Mistake on my part, leaving the Crystal Targeting Matrix at home....
Turn 2: Cj
Moving only the wraiths and the squad of warriors behind them, Cj's lucky rolls had the monolith arrive right next to the striking scorpions and my falcon. His horde of 20 warriors annihilated my Fire Prism. Not cool, because with its' S9 weapon, it can wipe out a necron and not give it a chance for a "We'll Be Back" roll. Monoith got one shot at my scorpions and 2 on my falcon. It missed its' shot on the scorpions and didn't glance my falcon. Wraiths killed almost all my wraithguard. The spiritseer died from a power weapon wound that i failed...
Me
Starcannon-lord got in range to assault the Wraiths. Scorpions got in range to haywire the monolith and block the portal so the warriors couldn't unload. Falcon and wave serpent shot at the warrior squad with the tomb spyder. Killed a few and had the reapers mop up the rest. Farseer jetbiked behind cover to save herself. Scorpions assault the monolith with their haywire grenades and managed to immobilize it. Wraithlord killed a wraith made them fallback a massive 12". Hey, no more assault.
Turn 3: Cj
Wraiths moved to the otherside near the objectives. Was pissed monolith couldn't get troops out. : D Sent his tomb spyder to its' death. Destroyers moved forward to get some shots at my reapers, but were just over 36" range. His warriors did however, immobilize my wave serpent and take out it's scatter lasers.
Me
Tomb Spyder died a death from starcannons and shuriken cannons (falcon and wave serpent combo anyone?) Reapers killed all three destroyers, but the other tomb spyder allowed them to attempt WBB rolls. Wraithlords moved forward to try and finish his necrons. Wraithguard jumped out of the serpent so as to not go up in flames with it. They were ment to hold their objective. And kill anything that got too close. Scorpions destroyed the monolith with their second wave of Haywire grenades. Tomb Spyder took a wound from my star cannon. The shuriken catapults finished it though!
Turn 4: Cj
Not much happened, besides one destroyer staying alive. They hopped back and the wraiths were staying where they were. Warriors inflicted a wound on my Starcannon-lord. Both had 2 wounds left now.
Me
The scorpions couldn't make it to another enemy in time before turn six, but they still started to move on. Wraithlord moved forward to take the objectives. I didn't think they could get in range of the objective, but I could still try.
Turn 5: Cj
Wraiths moved right next to the Wraithguard, using their 24" move, so no assault. Warriors began to move up to the objective. The squad of 3 Destroyers moved towards the falcon, along with the Heavy destroyer. Ended up doing nothing. But my wave serpent had no weapons left.
Me
Wraithguard moved to kill the wraiths. Wraithlords moved up to take out a few more warriors. Falcon killed the heavy destroyer. Wraithguard knocked down a wraith and then assaulted. They did nothing, but lost one of their own. Farseer jumped forward and assaulted the warriors that were running toward the objective marker.
Turn 6: Cj
Destroyers jetted forward onto the objective and the Necron lord's Veil of Darkness scattered too far away from the objective. Wraiths and Necron lord stayed locked in assault.
Me
Dark Reapers killed the 3 destroyers on the objective. Falcon shot at some more warriors, and wraithlords just barely missed the other objective marker.
End Result:
Me: 1 Cj: 0
Win for me. I guess one CAN defeat one's army....

Second Game
Slightly tired, the game vs. Space wolves was a bloody one. Synopsis.
Turn one: I stun a dreadnaught. He kills some scorpions.
Turn two: I get his vindicator with my prism. He gets a wound on my lance-lord.
Turn three: I get both his dreads with my wraithguard and lance-lord. His wolf scouts come and kill my dark reapers.
Turn four: Wraithlord and 6 scorpions return the favor to the wolf scouts. He assaults one squad of guard and melta-guns down the lance-lord.
Turn five: Wraithguard stay in assault. Starcannon-lord tries to join in. His tanks are gone and shakes my wave serpent.
Turn six: I have my prism on his objective, he blows it up. He assaults my wraithlord and gets 2 sixes on the one wound it already has. Game ends.
Objectives:
Me 0; Trent 0

Dusjo-Katon vs. Mech IG
The first game of the tournament went very well. As I stated earlier, it was a RoE game. My objectives were to hold my two while his were to kill my Farseer and have one of mine.
He got first turn and deployed most of his tanks (2 lemans, 3 chimeras) in the upper left to set up a fire base that I would have to come to. His Hellhound and Basilisk were on the right (my left and right) to prevent me from flanking him. Keep in mind, he's been looking at my Blog and kinda knew what he was up against. I split my force to have my Falcon, one squad of wraithguard, a wraithlord, Fire Prism and the second wraithlord to support them. Farseer would be following my Prism for every single game so she could guide it. Reapers and scorpions with the other squad of wraithguard would be on the right, going for the other objective and taking out any tanks that got too close (and that basilisk).
Turn 1: Jason
Not much happened here. Besides the fact that my Falcon died turn 1. (It would proceed to get destroyed turn 1 on every single game we played...) His bassie missed hitting my prism and scattering onto my farseer. One leman shot at my Dark Reapers in cover. Nothing happened.
Me
Guiding the Prism, I got a lucky shot on that damn Leman and blew it up. Wraithlords advanced, glanced a chimera and shook it. Scorpions advanced and my Wraithguard went to kill the bassie.
Turn 2: Jason
None of his deepstrikers arrived. He disembarked some troops so they wouldn't be killed and poped smoke on the same Chimera. The Hellhound drove out to take care of the Wave Serpent. Got a glance and I couldn't shoot. Scorpions were almost roasted, but he decided to go after the serpent due to the fact the scorpions would still get an armour save. : D Bassie inflicted a wound on my brightlance wraithlord.
Me
Wraithlords advanced. Serpent jumped over terrain and hid from that damn Hellhound. Hawks flew in, dropped a grenade on the disembarked troops and landed nearby. scorpions advanced but then chilled around for a bit. Wraithlords were facing two chimeras that were probably going to advance soon. They shot and didn't do anything. Fire Prism missed both its' shots with a 2 and a 2 to hit. Hawks killed more IG kasrkin.
Turn 3: Jason
Deepstrike. Command squads: 1 & 1. Sentinals: 2 & 2. Not kidding. With my hawks behind his mobile line of fire, he deployed another squad and was ready to light them up. Hellhound moved to try and get the serpent. Two chimeras, both empty, moved up to take out the wraithlords. They caused a wound. The Hellhound's napalm of it didn't glance me this time. : D. However, the combined fire power of 2 Kasrkin squads and a chimera killed my squad of 8 hawks. Revenge is bittersweet.
Me
But I find I take it to my liking. Revenge that is. My Serpent, no longer shaken, moved to the back armour of the Hellhound. The other serpent flew forward and was near the remaining leman. Prism was guided and looking at 2 chimeras. Wraithlords were pissed as well. As the prism blew up a chimera, the other was almost boxed in. Serpent unloaded its' W.guard and destroyed the Hellhound. Wraithguard did jack squat to the damn Bassie. But the others shook a Leman and would have immobilized it, but his extra armour prevented that.
Turn 4: Jason
Command squad and its' helper demolition squad dropped next to my farseer. Sentinal did too. The chimeras moved to take out the serpent by the leman. Boxed in chimera failed difficult terrain roll, but had an upgrade to that allowed to re-roll the failed roll. Damn. It moved up still.
The chimeras took out the wave serpent and bassie killed my wraithguard. Everyone of them. His command squad shot up my farseer and did one wound. Two left...until his tank killing squad threw a demolition pack onto her...S8, with her T of 4...Instant kill. Objectives: Him 1: me 0. so far...
Me
Reapers just got a lot of new targets. So did my wraithlords. Wave serpent moved to the side armour of the damn Bassie. Prism wasn't guided now and missed....Wraithlord flamed the demopack squad as the reapers tore open the tin-can (sentinal). Wraithguard shot the leman again and did nothing...but the wave serpent destroyed the damn basilisk that was causing psychological terror. Scorpions moved back to take their objective.
The rest of the game consisted of small fire fights until the end of turn 6, where he had all of his infantry around my other objective. I had my wraithlord flame and kill everything within 3" of it as the prism sat on the objective. Scorpions held theirs and the reapers killed another sentinal that had landed.
Objectives: Me 2: Jason 1
I won.
You know you're a collector...
I've not posted in a while. Life happens.
Tournament coming up on the 19th (this Saturday) so expect a few battle reports from that...IF I don't horribly lose! : D
I will be taking an edited Dusjo-Katon list with more aspect warriors and tanks. Oh yes, there will be fire power.
But I disgress, my main reason about this post was I just realized when I started to like collecting miniatures. It was back, VERY far back, in about...4th grade? I loved those "holiday village" models. There were houses, people, frozen lakes, shops, benches, hydrants, everything you could want to make a "winter wonderland town."
It was a joyous time. And it definetly helped getting me started into "figurines" which is what my friends call my "obsession" with 40k.

I feel Simply...Green?
So my Eldar army (which I got into 40k with) is painted horribly. I had to spray them with a black primer to start over....The end result was they then turned out better. It was the next level in painting for me. (First being when I didn't use Citadel Paints, then that, and lastly my Necrons). Thusly, I was asking some friends about what they used to strip models.
I was recommended to using Brake Fluid. Toxic. Potentially ruining models if left in too long.
Then Shawn (Mr. Unbeatable Tyranid List! : D) told me about his stripper.
Her name: Green, Simple.
It's a household cleaner, easy to use and notable for its' green tint. Just leave models (metal OR plastic, it cleans both!) in it over night and then use warm water and an old toothbrush to remove excess paint from them. The best part: NON-TOXIC.

Eldar Rumors
Just a compilation of all rumors that have surfaced...
The RumorsNote that there are three kinds of "rumors":-
"Officially confirmed": This is a rumor which is confirmed by Games Workshop in the form of a Sneak Peek or a statement made on the record in public at events like Games Day. Private conversations with designers or sculptors don't constitute "official confirmation", nor does typing your favorite rumor in all caps or holding your breath till you turn blue.-
"Actual rumors": Persistent chatter about something which is at least tied to a possibly credible source. Private conversations with designers or sculptors fall into this category, as do leaks from playtesters.-
"Wish Lists": Something which has no credible basis as a rumor, but is a very popular concept among the community (or some of its louder members). Due to the fact that "Wish Lists" are often discussed over and over, people sometimes make the mistake of thinking that they must be actual rumors or officially confirmed.
Make sure you take a moment to remind yourself of what those differences before you read, and note that everything described here falls into the "Actual Rumor" category.
The Codex & Craftworlds:The codex (which is due in October). Developer Phil Kelly is going to be introducing a greater level of flexibility and customization into the vanilla list that will supposedly lend similar variety to the Eldar army without having to resort to Craftworld specific Force Org Charts and special rules. Phil was adamant that Craftworlds will be in the new codex for sure; they'll just be integrated into a larger, more expansive list. He said that Craftworld lists right now have a way of constraining the players a bit too much (I believe he used the word "boxed in", but my memory could be playing tricks on me). He said that certain Craftworld options will be universally available to all lists, but "you won't see a Biel Tan list with a Seer Council or anything". He also told me that the new codex will not make Ulthwe Strike Force obsolete, and you will be able to use it. How that's going to work, I have no idea, but Phil did write both the USF and the Eldar Codex, so he would know.Phil's major focus for the Eldar codex was "balance". Certain units which are overused will be toned down to encourage players to have the courage to try new things. Other units (Shining Spears and Jetbikes were mentioned specifically) are considered too weak and will be boosted in a way which makes them desirable for players to take. Every unit should be worth using.
Psychic Powers:Eldar psychic powers will get a major re-working. I've been hearing that Mind War and Eldritch Storm will disappear, but Doom (a 2nd ed power) may make a return; when cast upon an enemy unit, attacks directed at them can re-roll their "to wound" rolls for the duration of one turn. Other rumors suggest that Mind War will persist as before, but will incur a wound on the Farseer if it fails. The emphasis will be on modifiers and buffs rather than offensive psychic attacks (especially for the Farseer). The Farseer is also getting a new metal model that's supposed to be absolutely brilliant. Some rumors claim that he'll be reduced to T3. This appears to be in keeping with their desire to delineate between the psychic power of the Farseer and the combat power of the Autarch.
Seer Councils:Seer Councils will appear in the new codex, but will not be abusable in the way they currently are. Phil Kelly specifically mentions the "boxing Warlocks" (with no weapons or powers) that are used to create ablative wounds for this unit, and said that people who invest a lot of money in loopholes of the current codex will be very disappointed indeed with the new rules. Some rumors claim a limitation in Seer Council numbers (no more than 10).
Avatar:The Avatar will get a new model and be made into a Special Character, complete with new rules. The model is supposedly twice the height of the current one with The Wailing Doom in one hand and the other outstretched and pointing, but sources say that it's being redone because studios aren't happy with the sculpt. Word has it that, rules-wise, he'll be brought into line with stats similar to a Greater Demon. Forgeworld has also reportedly claimed in private emails to individuals that they will be doing an Avatar, but it will get done after the four major Chaos Daemons are complete. His save is rumored to be 3+ with a 4+ ward (invulnerable) save. Some rumors claim that the Avatar will need to be "summoned" to the battlefield.
Autarch:Autarch. It will definitely be a metal model by Jes Goodwin. Phil Kelly explains him by saying "He's not Superman. He's Batman". He's not such a staggeringly badass character in his own right (Phil says that calling him a "Super Exarch", even though White Dwarf used that term, is a misnomer). He's more of a jack of all trades, but can take gear from any Aspect. Phil's examples were that he could take Swooping Hawk wings, a Banshee Mask and an Executioner... or Mandiblasters and a Fusion Gun. He also says that even though the Autarch is metal, you will not have to convert him to get all those different combinations. Reportedly he will also have an influence on certain strategy-related factors of the game, such as reserve rolls. For good fluff on the Autarch which explains his role in relationship to the Aspects and their Exarchs, check out Games Workshop's downloadable rules for Epic: Armageddon.
Special Characters:Phoenix Lords will be in the new codex. Phil Kelly confirms this, and adds that they were not nearly strong enough in the old codex. Each will get a boost and, in his words, they will become "extremely good at what they do". No whisper has been uttered as to their resculpting, however.Iyanna Arienal and Nuadhu "Fireheart" are going to disappear from the Eldar pantheon, but three Special Characters appear to be very likely. The first of these is the Avatar, who will no longer be a basic HQ choice. The second is the Pirate Prince Yriel of Craftworld Iyanden (no word on whether he'll get his own sculpt). The third, oddly enough, is Eldrad Ulthran. Though he "died" (in a manner of speaking) at the end of the Eye of Terror campaign after making Abaddon run like a scared kitten, there's some pretty solid word out there that he will re-appear in the new codex.
Other HQ:There will also be new Warlocks, I'm hearing, but no info on that, either. There WILL be a Bonesinger model made... just no rules. It'll be a Special Edition model, and will reportedly be holding some sort of instrument while standing among tendrils of Wraithbone (think "Wood Elves"). Not sure what the deal there is, but it may be released with the army box.
Elites:Harlequins will be returning in the new codex as an Elite choice, complete with new models by Jes Goodwin (though the models will not be released with the codex). Harlequin troupes are taken in the same way that Kroot are taken with Tau, and individual models are upgraded to Shadowseer, Great Harlequin, etc. Mimes will be able to infiltrate. All Harlequins will be given the Harlequin's Kiss weapon (which rends). The thrust of the Harlequin presence in the new codex is that, for now, they will exist solely as an Elite choice for the Eldar. If they are popular enough, GW may consider giving them their own codex at some later date.
There will be no new sculpts for Wraithguard, but Phil Kelly confirmed changes to the rules. Some rumors suggest that they will be toughness 6 with 2 wounds and their Wraithcannons will enjoy 18" range (or some other combination of those stats). Wraithguard-related rumors are on shaky ground at the moment, as several conflicting rumors exist. Phil Kelly confirmed that, no matter what, they'll still keep plodding along...
Aspect Warriors:Fire Dragons have been redone with models which more closely resemble their 2nd ed counterparts (same with the Howling Banshees). It's hard to tell from the pics, but the Dragons have tanks on their back as well as attached to their Fusion Guns. Striking Scorpions and Dark Reapers (with targeting vanes returning) are reportedly going to be redone as well and, like the Dragons and Banshees, all in metal. No word on dramatic rules changes for them, however, but rumors persist that the Striking Scorpions are going to become Troop choices in the new codex (though this is mostly "wish list"), will receive the "Move Through Cover" universal rule and may possibly be reduced to S3. The Scorpion models have been redone by Juan Diaz, and are definitely metal. Word also has it that the Howling Banshee Exarch will be able to take the Silent Death (S5 Web Of Skulls), a weapon previously available only to Jain Zar. There are on-again, off-again rumors about Shining Spears being redone, but no final word and no sculpts to show yet. No-one can seem to get any traction on whether Warp Spiders or Swooping Hawk models will be redone or not. Right now the consensus seems to be "no" due to time constraints... though some rumors have started to surface that so much community-level stink is being made about the Warp Spiders not being redone that they may fast-track some new models through. Take that with a grain of salt, as GW hasn't officially confirmed that there will be no Warp Spider resculpt, so it's unclear how the community is supposed to object to something they don't know about yet. Warp Spiders may receive some rules changes in the form of their Death Spinners becoming Assault 2/Rending.
Rules-wise, Swooping Hawks are going to enjoy some serious boosts. Changes include the universal Hit-and-Run rule, the ability to re-Deep Strike (though what that means is unclear, it suggests that they can arrive on the table, do something, then deep strike again somewhere else). They also carry Haywire Grenades and will always hit Vehicles on 4+, even skimmers.
I've now heard a few times that playtesting saw Dark Reaper Exarchs with an ability to upgrade the squad so they can use indirect fire (one shot per squad). As this was part of the playtesting, there's no guarantee it'll end up in the rules.
Speaking of Aspects and rumors: When an Exarch takes a power, it now affects the entire squad. Exarch powers will be retooled somewhat to make this more practical (specifically, the Dire Avenger power "Defend" will allow enemies to hit on a 5+ in CC instead of a 6+), but it seems like this is a done deal.
As an aside; Jes Goodwin's sketches were annotated to state that some Exarchs are so powerful that they do not need to don their helmet to achieve the state of mind required to enter combat. Instead, they apply a form of War Paint. Future Exarch models may be more consistently helmet-less (like the Dire Avenger Exarch we see in the new sculpts).
Dire Avengers are in for lots of changes. They're being completely remade in plastic and the rules are getting a huge rewrite. For one, they will be able to shoot their Shuriken Catapults (which may or may not be of the same class that Guardians get) a full 18" and, if they employ a power called "Shuriken Storm", they can fire 3 times in a turn (rather than 2) and give up the chance to fire in the following turn (though they can still assault). The Dire Avenger Exarch will be able to equip with two Shuriken Catapults (not pistols; Catapults) and will be able to fire Assault 4 (though whether that can become Assault 6 during Shuriken Storm was not addressed). Jes Goodwin's sketches also show a "Deflector Sleeve", which appears on the new sprue. The models come with two sprues (5 Avengers each) to a box. It seems that GW would like to see more people using Dire Avengers, as they are identified in the fluff as the most common Aspect of all. They will be extremely customizable and can be either "shooty/offensive" or "defensive/tough". The next part is a bit complicated, but stay with me: What we currently know as the "distract" ability (which removes an attack from every opponent in base contact with the exarch down to a minimum of one) is now called "Defend" and will apply to the entire squad. What we currently know as the "Defend" power (which forces enemies in base contact with the Exarch to only hit him on a 6, though he always strikes last) is going to be called something like "Shimmer Shield" and will be free to all Dire Avengers, and will change the "to hit" roll to 5+ instead of 6+.
Guardians:Guardians will get some changes, but probably just in the form of new gubbinz and so on. Jes Goodwin (who is doing most of the Eldar stuff) says the current gubbinz aren't "Eldary enough". Not-quite-as-for-sure rumors say that the basic Guardian box will be reduced to 12 Guardians, but could include the Heavy Weapons Platform (redone in plastic, which most of you have already seen). No change is apparently going to be made to their 12" Shuriken Catapult range, and rumors persist that no changes will be made to the rest of their rules except to say that they're more likely to be relegated to support roles (i.e. manning artillery or piloting vehicles) than kept as the front-line troop choice. That seems to be the Dire Avengers' role now.
The Heavy Weapon Platform which has been redone in plastic could either be considered a Cities of Death release or an Eldar Codex release. Which of these two releases the Platform is connected to could have some effect on how many total releases we end up with (i.e. if it's considered a release for Cities of Death then it leaves room for more releases to go with the new Eldar Codex).
Rangers:Rangers are already redone in metal. Most of you have seen that. No firm word on changes in rules for them, but the new models no longer carry Lasweapons, so I imagine that (aside from Swooping Hawks), that'll be the last we see of the 2nd ed Eldar Lasweapon trend. All Rangers will be upgradeable to Pathfinders.
Jetbikes:Jetbikes models will not be redone, but there are rumors stating that Jetbikes will become troop choices, will have a reduced armor save but will also be dramatically reduced in points cost.
War Walkers:War Walkers are already redone and, in general, the public seems to really like them. They will receive the Universal Scout Rule which allows them to make a free move before the game begins but after deployment. Rumors suggest that War Walkers will be able to take two different weapons or, instead, twin-link two of the same weapons for a reduced cost. A limited "splash release" of three-in-a-box has been confirmed by Phil Kelly, and he also states that their points cost will be changed (he did not say if it would be reduced or raised). Also, there's whispering that the War Walkers will no longer be open-topped due to the Eldar Energy Field.
Wraithlord:We don't know much about the new Wraithlord rules, but much chatter about the sculpt exists. Not only will he be in plastic and made by Jes Goodwin, but he'll look like a miniature Revenant Titan (with the blank face and "collar" in the style of the Wraithguard, but reportedly with a smaller "face"). He'll also have an optional sword and shield. Some weaponry will be mounted on the shoulders instead of the wrists, but a recent "silhouette" shows what could either be Shuriken Catapults or Cannons mounted on his forearms. Pictures from the City of Death codex show him with a Vibrocannon for an arm (while new weapon load-outs for the Wraithlord are possible, it's generally agreed that the photo in that codex is a conversion, not an indication of how the Wraithlord will, in fact, look). The joints will all be ball-joint sockets, so that's good for posability. The sword and shield suggest better CC rules for the Wraithlord, but no confirmations of that yet. This has been corroborated from at least three independent sources... so I'm confident that it's true. Lonnnng ago (like over a year) I heard that the Wraithlord would stay the same, stat-wise, but be increased in points cost. I haven't heard anything since then, though. Phil Kelly confirmed that the new Wraithlord will be toughness 8.
Fire Prism:Phil Kelly confirmed the "bank shot" power that they once had in Epic where one Fire Prism fires into another in order to launch a single super-powered shot at the enemy. Other rumors include the Prism receiving BS4 and a new "Crystal Targeting Matrix" rule which turns a single weapon into a twin-linked one. Phil Kelly also said that the original idea was that the Fire Prism would be the Eldar tank hunter, the Wave Serpent would be the transport, and the Falcon would be half-way between the two (half shooty, half transport). That's not the way it turned out; most people take Falcons as their main shooty tanks. He's been working on making the Fire Prism into that Hammerhead-comparable option for the Eldar army (his words, not mine) and buffed it quite a bit.
Heavy Weapons:The cost of all heavy weapons is rumored to be greatly reduced in order to bring them in line with typical heavy weapon costs of other armies. This is also intended to encourage more Guardian squads with Heavy Weapon Platforms. The Shuriken Cannon (reportedly reduced to 5 points) will become Assault 3 but won't get the Rending ability, though "mesh" weapons (such as Death Spinners or Shadow Weavers) will. Starcannons are expected to stay exaclty the same, stat-wise, except for the loss of one shot per turn, reducing it to Heavy 2. Scatter Lasers are expected to become Heavy 4.

3rd game...if I could call it a game.
I felt bad about this game.
Vs: Don't know his name.
Army: Space Marines.
Mission: Seek and Destroy. KILL, KILL, KILL.
Was his first game vs necrons...well, 3rd game EVER. He conceeded beginning of turn 3. He only obtained 150 points for killing one destroyer squad. I amassed about...3182 points. My list and his - 150 for the destroyers.
Well, I'm not sure about overall ending. But I only had one model not painted. :*(
Shawn won Painting, hands down. His painting skills are amazing.
He did lose his 3rd game vs. Khorne army. His dice rolling caugth up with him.

Crons VS Nids. Undead VS Xenos
Well, I just blew out a candle and the wax flew back onto my face. Thank God it didn't burn me.
Anywho
2nd Game
VS: Shawn
Army: Tyranids
Mission: Take and Hold. Must have more scoring units 12" from the center of the table. All of our units, besides our leaders, would count as scoring units.
Shawn won turn roll. I was in a good and bad position. Good news: I'll get WBB rolls almost instantly. Bad news: I would also be in assault on turn 1 if he was lucky. He was lucky.
Turn 1
The infiltrating Broodlord and his 10 genestealer retinue ran through the ruins towards my 10 squad of warriors. His gaunts ran towards my other squad of 10. Carnifex shot at my destroyers. Missed. Yay!...his broodlord and stealers assaulted my squad. Massacre from power weapon hits and rending. :*( They retreated in cover for saves. Gaunts were just 1/2 an inch away from my squad. Literally, 1/2 of an inch.
My only squad of warriors left shot the hell out of the damned dogs. [The missing 2 squads were with my deepstriking monolith. Will post an afterthought about this game at the bottom.] The destroyers killed 1/2 of a spinefist gaunt squad. Heavy destroyer actually did something by causing a wound on the fex. My wraiths and wraithlord were going to be able to assault the Zoe next turn and maybe kill synapse for him. : D
Turn 2
His shooting was pityful again. The fex did NOTHING. But nids usually has no shooting. Assault within 30 seconds. The gaunts began to tear thru my 2nd squad of warriors. My lord was not attached to the squad...[afterthought]. Many saves, only one failed. For those that don't know about gaunts, they get about 40 attacks on the charge. Which they did. But only 5 wounds. And only 1 failed armour save. : D
My WBB roll failed??? yeah, one warrior died. But my deepstriking monolith didn't arrive as well?????? DAMNIT! My Heavy destroyer caused another wound on the fex, as one of my 2 destroyer squads finished it off. The other squad began to shoot at the broodlord and his retinue. Killed about 2 stealers. His rolls sucked this time. Good for me. Assault. My wraiths and lord did one wound on the zoe. Yes, a whole wound. With 16 attacks, one wound. My lord and tomb spyder (who had pooped 2 scarabs but had diarrhea and took one wound in the process) assisted the doomed warriors. Lord and spyder killed a few things, but he got the spyder. Warriors were alive though. Yay. Stealers would be assaulting next turn.
Turn 3
He had no shooting. Assault. Stealers ran in, and by stealers, i mean his two other squads. What's that? 50 attacks with rending???...I have a rez. orb. I NEEDED THAT REZ ORB. My warriors died. Completely. So no WBB, even with that rez orb. :*( They all proceeded to gang up on my lord. Who killed 2. But no more attacks on him. The Destroyers behind him were being eyed thou...
Monolith still hasn't shown up, rolled ANOTHER one for the deep strike. 20 warriors are waiting for it. Shooting. Destroyers began to back up the assaulted lord, killing 4 more stealers. But there was no retreat for them. My wraiths killed the Zoe and assaulted the spine fists. Which they mauled and charged into the next zoe, wounded already from the Heavy Destroyer. My troop lord took a wound from a stealer squad. The other stealer squad killed the destroyer squad and smashed into the next one.
Turn 4
The Assault phase was the only phase. My wraiths cut down the remaining zoe and charged the approaching Hive Tyrant and his hive guard. The stealers cut down the remaining destroyer squad. My lord took one more wound, killed some stealers, then died from a gaunt. My wraith lord died from the Tyrant.
My Turn. MONOLITH ARRIVES! Dumps a squad of warrior which rapid fire a squad of 5 tyranid warriors to just one left. The 'lith finished up the broodlord's retinue. Assault. Phylactery = WBB roll 4. Lord stands up with one wound. 5 = 2 wounds, 6 = 3 wounds. Upon which i rolled a 6! *The organizer was watching the battle at this point, and began to sing "I get knocked down, but i get up again..."* My wraiths began to kill tyrant guards. And my lord died without inflicting one wound. Stealers began to stomp upon the robotic corpse.
Turn 5
Phase out limit = 13. I have 18 models left. He charges his remaining warrior and the free gaunt squad (who were gangbanging my troop lord) into my warrior squad that just arrived from the lith. The stealers kept on the mosh pit.

Lord goes for WBB. The mosh pit prevented it, with a roll of 3. My other squad of 10 warriors arrive and do 2 wounds to the broodlord. Two warriors go down from the warrior and gaunts. The wraiths kill another hive guard and reduce his squad to a non-scoring unit. The heavy destroyer is also dead, thx to assaulted stealers from his turn [forgot to mention...:*(].
Turn 6
Broodlord assaults my warrior squad. 4 power weapon hits. No wbb rolls, plus my heavy died and lord. PHASE OUT.
Summary: Was amazing game. had a blast and lost. : D
After thought: Pictures will be posted later.
Monolith. Troop Lord. Both could have been used in a better niche.
Monolith - deepstriking it and 20 warriors. Was either a game winner or loser. If it had arrived on turn 2, Shawn would have had NO chance of victory. But not the case.
Troop Lord - forgot to attach to squad and deny the gaunts the +1 attack bonus. :*(

Necrontyr keep the swarming greenskins at bay.

1st game at the Tournament yesterday.
Vs: Sherman. Yes, his name was Sherman. Was an EXTREMELY fun game to play.
Army: Vanilla Orks
Objective: Cleanse. Capturing a table quarter besides your own = 500 points. Capturing your opponent's = 1000 points. Only way to win.
First off, I'll clarify that to capture/control a table quarter the player must have one model in there with NO enemy models anywhere in the quarter.
Turn 1
I won turn roll. The greenskins began to drop like...orks. My gauss weaponry shook his looted tank, thusly having it to not shoot next turn. My destroyers just annihilated two squads. : D
However, my wraiths and Necron lord charged the orks, and completely killed a squad, thusly charging into the squad behind it.
On his turn, he charged just about every avalible squad into my wraiths. They died. No WBB, including lord. His trukks with Red Paint Job got an extra inch movement and zoomed towards my other lord and 2 squads of warriors. That was about it for that turn.

Turn 2
Slightly demoralized that my awesome "wraith"lord died, I just continued to mow down orks. And, to my delight, found that even his stikkbomb couldn't glance my Monolith. My destroyers hopped ontop of the center building and continued to mow down boyz.
With his War Boss and a 17 greenskin mob, he ran towards my destroyers, moving 4" up the difficult terrain. I began to worry, but laughted when his assault roll was a 2. An inch away from my squad.
His bikes drove towards my destroyers, but were also out of assault range!
: DHe did however, deposite his boyz from the trukks. Who proceeded to charge BOTH my squads. My nearby tomb spyder got scared and pooped out a squad of scarabs to help it next turn.
Turn 3
My Destroyers continued to gun down the boyz who were encrouching upon them. As my monolith continued advancing. My Heavy Destroyer missed his looted leman this time. Well, his ork armour saved his arse. My tomb spyder went to help the 2 squads entangled in combat. Well, one squad just kept saving or getting its' WBB rolls. The other was completely gone. My lord was on his own, but a warscythe, Gaze of Flame, and Phase Shifter really helped. Tomb Spyder pooped another scarab swarm and charged.
He was really dwindled in size now, around 70 orks out of his original 140 (which was more than the tyranid player, Shawn. More on him later). But he kept up his assaults. One squad of destroyers was tag-teamed by the 17 ork mob and war boss plus the remaining bikes. One destroyer survived. (Hello wbb) His other assaults went not so good. My tomb spyder bit it :*(, but lord kept killing everything in B2B with him. The remaining squad (now 13 strong thanks to lucky WBB rolls) didn't die [well, maybe one or two who would make their WBB] and kept killing the assaulting orks.
Summary: We ran out of time. Mostly due to his massive amount of movement/shooting/assaults. And it ended up as a tie. So no victory points for either of us...but a generalship score of 13 both ways! : D
On a side note: My army seems to do well in WBB rolls, the two lords excel in supporting fire power or assaults, and they do well in assaults.
PAINting...
So after about a week of finishing up my army for the tourny I attended yesterday (which I'm going to post 3 battle reports of the three games in seperate entries when i finish this one) and my family and I have to go to our lake house and, surprise!, PAINt it all day to get ready to sell...yes, pun intended.
Not fun.
Onto battle reports!
Not fun.
Onto battle reports!

Phase Out!
So i haven't posted in some time. But have news...lots of it.
First off, had a game last night. Vs. Salamanders (The green Space Marines. : D)
Was brutal for the 5 turns we played. He killed many warriors and my destroyers. I killled tanks and immobilized his vindicator (the thing with the hull mounted demolisher cannon). My wraiths were definetly my best unit, followed by my necron lord. Wraiths killed 2 full squads, one after another and shrugged off ALL wounds with their invurnable 3+ save. Lord went and killed his FC with 2 wounds using a warscythe. He said "ok, 4+ invurnable save." I love the look when I tell my opponents it ignores ALL KINDS of saves!
However, that hull mounted demo. cannon killed the two warriors needed to get me to phase out. So I lost, but the marines will feel their loss in the morning.
Next. Tournament tomorrow. WILL post...you can hold me on that. Still need to go buy destroyer lord for my conversion and get 2000 points.
Btw, in case you've not realized...orange = necron news, red = eldar news, and grey = news.
First off, had a game last night. Vs. Salamanders (The green Space Marines. : D)
Was brutal for the 5 turns we played. He killed many warriors and my destroyers. I killled tanks and immobilized his vindicator (the thing with the hull mounted demolisher cannon). Necrontyr and CoD
Not posted in a while. But lots of news.
First off. Last thursday, I played a game with my eldar (1500 pts.) using the new Cities of Death rules. Was an amazing game. Only a few shots were fired the first 3 turns. Many assaults and cursings of my falcon who doesn't hit anything...while his lemans kill 2 squads a turn for 2 turns...
Ended in a tie, with my fire prism and his squad of stormtroopers holding the same objective. He had to make a leadership test and got an 8...sooo close.
Next. Got lots more crons. and pictures!
Pics not of best quality, but they do. : D

Cam'ron says:

Wraithbored says:
what is it?
Wraithbored says:
YES

Cam'ron says:
i'm just thinking
Cam'ron says:
I have $200
Cam'ron says:
and i'm gunna spend about $120
Wraithbored says:
I was considering switching to hookers and heroin to lessen hobbie costs.
Sad...but true. On the subject of battle reports: I'm NOT gunna write one about my game vs. Tib, HOWEVER I will write one tomorrow upon what will happen tonight.

Wraith Lord
So I gots another wraith for my necron army. Which includes 3....but I've got but one model. Solution: Buy more!
Problem: Need 2 more for what i'm planning....
You see, in the Medusa V campaign (visit us.games-workshop.com for info) there is the possibility to upgrade a Necron Lord to have a wraith body. Thusly...$30 for 2 wraiths I've been proxying...and $20 for a Destroyer Lord to convert....will be freaking amazing when i'm done wit it thou.
Pictures when I get my camera fixed....It fell in the mud. While on vacation.

2000 and 1850. Win/Lose
2000 points. Using list seen below. : D
Vs: Arrogant 14 year old
Army: Space Marine Drop Force
Eh. I hate this person. He's annoying and constantly talking. :*(
Playing Rules of Engagement. Ended with me having 3 objectives, he only 1. I win!
Don't feel like posting battle. Was just boring.
1850 Points. List seen below.
Vs: Tib. Good friend of mine.
Army: Tyranids.
This was a VERY fun battle. It was a constant blood-bath on both sides. His biovores actually DID something...by killing my 3 Reapers on turn 2. My Exarch was then shot at by the many many devorers. 8 wounds. All deflected off his amazing 3+ Save. He then proceeded to run away.
My Wraithlord did kill 5 warriors. And my Spiders completely decimated his gaunt broods. My banshees died to his genestealers. Scorpions killed some...but got power weapon'd to death.
Will post full report tomorrow. Dinner time.

Army Lists
Now, why is it that the heart of WH 40k is the construction of the army list? Is it possibly because an army shapes there and can almost predetermine the results?
Yes.
No.
The thing I love about Eldar is the diversity of their troops. Each fills a certain niche, but combined can make a totally different style of play.

Mega Battle #1 (cont.'d)
Sleep over. Blog now.
Full Story...as much as I can recollect... : D
The forces of the imperium of man slowly rolled upon the dark forest. The black templars and the secondary chapter were looked upon in awe by the imperial guardsmen. Awe that their power armor was not as good compared to their multitude of chimeras and leman russ'. They were all unaware of being watched. Through their stealth suits, the Tau had been a reconaissance for the Chaos World Eaters stationed behind them. With a slight popping noise and a cackle of energy, Necron warriors emerge from nearly thin air. With a mighty roar, the chaos open fired upon the imperials. The Tau could be heard from their guns and steady communication. The deathly silent necrons slowly advanced and began to de-atomize the Marines.
Dust settled, but only for a moment. Shells from lemans, heavy bolters and lascannons crippled the alien onslaught. The ancient Phalanx tactic was good in theory, yet warriors were dropping, even the mighty Necron Lord couldn't revive them. The imperium pushed further and further, aiming at the lowly fire warriors, unable to see the stealth suits. The world bearers merely shouted louder, being open targets for the Marines.
Summery: Not much. We lost...time restraints as I stated before. Lost about 700 points out of 1000. My team mates lost around the same. The Imperium of Man lost about 700 points from their total of 3000. We had about 1000 left, in total.

No A/C ... not a fun night.
So the past week and a half, I've been in Orlando. Doing stuff. Such as Universal Studios and Disneyworld...(not my idea...). Rollercoasters were good. Along with Cirque Du Soleil. : D
Sadly, not much time for my armies though. :*(
I arrived to my house last night, looking forward to my computer, room, army, etc. Only to find out our A/C broke over our vacation. Even now, it's still pretty warm here. But it was fixed. All I wanted to do was lie down and paint, etc. Sadly, nothing....damned A/C vents.

Mega Battle #1
First 3 v 3 tonight. "Imperium of Man" vs. "Evil/Aliens." 1000 points per player. It was good, though took 2 hours to get to turn 3. IG, Black Templars, and another Space Marine Legion against Tau, Chaos, and my Necrons. First game i've used them in. : D
Relatively pleased with my performance...except I didn't deploy to the best advantages and only had one squad of Destroyers...aka....no WBB....:*(
We ended up losing due to time, but was still an amazing game. I had 15 models left. They needed to get me to 14 to phase out. : D Lucky me!
More to come....damned sleep....
